Pittsburgh Regional Transit adjusts schedules three time each year. The next round of service changes will go into effect on February 22, 2026. Routing changes primarily impact the following (along with some daily trip times): 53-Homestead Park, 53L-Homestead Park Limited, 57-Hazelwood, 59-Mon Valley, 61D-Murray Short, and 64-Lawrenceville-Waterfront.
Additional updates include the 54-North Side-Oakland-South Side routes with the Herron Avenue Bridge detour ended last September, the route will now return to its regular routing using the bridge. New inbound variants have also been added to adjust for the Forbes Avenue detour detailed below.
55-Glassport routing has also changed, and some stops will not be served due to the shifting of Camp Hollow Road in West Mifflin because of the Mon Fayette Expressway. Some daily trip times have changed.
The Fifth Avenue Contraflow bus lane is no longer being used by transit vehicles as of earlier this January to allow contractors to begin building a new bi-directional bike lane on Fifth Avenue as part of the ongoing PRT University Line bus rapid transit project. As previously reported, the nine bus routes that once traveled outbound on Fifth Avenue have been shifted to using Forbes Avenue in mixed traffic until a later date when new bus-only infrastructure is installed on Forbes.
This routing shift to Forbes Avenue will now be built into schedules for the 54-North Side-Oakland-South Side, 61D-Murray Short, 71A-Negley Short, 71B-Highland Park, 71C-Point Breeze Short, 71D-Hamilton Short, 75-Ellsworth, 93-Lawrenceville-Hazelwood, and P3-East Busway-Oakland.
