Students across the City of Pittsburgh are being welcomed back to campus through the end of August – with most classes resuming Monday, August 24 or Monday, August 31. Here's a look at the schedules at Carlow University, Carnegie Mellon University, Chatham University, Duquesne University, Point Park University, and the University of Pittsburgh.
As each university accommodates moving in their students while adhering to healthy and safety guidelines, at least five complete street closures and 17 metered street parking restrictions will continue in Oakland throughout the month of August as a result of student arrival. See below for details.
THIS WEEKEND
Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16:
Five streets in Oakland will be closed (see below for details) and metered parking on 17 streets will be restricted between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. each day for University of Pittsburgh student arrival. Freshman students at Duquesne University also begin to move-in on Sunday, August 16, between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
NEXT WEEK
Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18
Oakland street closures and parking restrictions remain in effect around University of Pittsburgh's Oakland campus from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Freshman students at Duquesne University continue to move-in on Monday between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and on Tuesday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20
Oakland street closures and parking restrictions remain in effect. Freshman students at Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham University begin to move-in, as well, with CMU scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. each day.
NEXT WEEKEND
Friday, August 21, Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23
Oakland street closures and parking restrictions remain in effect. Carlow University will be hosting New Student Orientation all weekend long, though no parking or traffic adjustments are anticipated.
Carnegie Mellon University freshman students continue to move-in between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. through the weekend. Chatham University upper-class student residents move-in on Saturday and Duquesne University upper-class students will continue moving in throughout the weekend. Point Park University students begin to move-in on Sunday.
LAST WEEK OF AUGUST 24-30
Oakland street closures and parking restrictions remain in effect. Duquesne University upper-class students will complete their move-in schedule after Monday, August 24, though students may continue to bring belongings onto campus throughout the remainder of the month. Carnegie Mellon University and Point Park University students continue to move-in all week long – Monday through Saturday, August 24-30.
Monday, August 24 marks the start of the Fall Term at Chatham University, Duquesne University, and University of Pittsburgh.
MONDAY, AUGUST 31
Monday, August 31 marks the start of the Fall Term at Carnegie Mellon University and Point Park University.
Note: Student arrival and orientation at all six universities will be conducted in accordance to each university's own COVID-19 Return-to-Campus policies and requirements. Please contact each university directly for details.
