Eleven projects across southwestern Pennsylvania have been chosen on a conditional basis to receive federal money for building electric vehicle charging stations in the first round of National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure funding. A PennDOT news release cited 54 projects in 35 counties picked on a conditional basis to receive a total of $33.8 million for expanding access and reliability of EV charging stations. Four federally compliant charging ports will be paid for at each location according to PennDOT.
"We are among the first states distributing these funds that will provide travelers with options and confidence while also benefiting our environment,” said state Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll in the announcement. “These new investments will create good paying jobs and allow Pennsylvania residents, businesses, and visitors to travel across the commonwealth faster, cleaner, and more reliably."
